Evidence Record: Sleeping, Showering, and Swimming While Wearing a Wig

Purpose: preserve the exact manufacturer evidence behind WigLab’s sleep, shower, and swim routing so three different wear situations are not rewritten as one universal synthetic-wig law.

This supports a HairUWear-scoped wear restriction; it does not prove that every manufacturer publishes the same rule.

The same do-not-recommend instruction appears across current Raquel Welch synthetic fiber sections, including FeatherLite, Tru2Life/heat-friendly systems where shown, and Kanekalon Vibralite. This strengthens the conclusion that the restriction is deliberate within the HairUWear care system rather than a stray sentence.

Their agreement supports HairUWear-family consistency; it still does not authorize WigLab to generalize the rule to Jon Renau, Ellen Wille, Estetica, Belle Tress, Rene of Paris, Noriko, Amore, or another maker without checking that maker’s own current instructions.
Critical distinction — wearing in the shower is not the same as washing under running water
A manufacturer may instruct a removed wig to be rinsed or washed under running cool water while separately advising against showering while wearing. WigLab must keep those actions separate. A wash-method phrase such as running water is not evidence that wearing the wig in a personal shower is approved.
What these sources do not establish
They do not establish a universal number of nights a wig can survive, a safe chlorine or salt-water exposure limit, a waterproof attachment system, a universal post-swim rescue routine, or permission to keep a damp wig on the head or sealed in storage. They also do not prove that a satin pillowcase, liner, grip, adhesive, conditioner, or detangler converts unsupported overnight or wet wear into a manufacturer-approved routine.
WigLab synthesis boundary
For HairUWear-family synthetic systems, WigLab can accurately report the manufacturer’s recommendation against sleeping, showering, or swimming while wearing. For unknown wigs or other manufacturers, WigLab should route to the exact maker when possible and use a conservative fallback rather than falsely claiming universal prohibition. Mechanical-risk discussion—friction, compression, tangling, damp-cap storage, attachment stress, and replacement risk—must remain labeled as risk-based guidance unless the exact manufacturer source states it.
