Fix a Problem: Start With What You See

What problem are you seeing?
Start with the symptom, not the product shelf. Pick the closest match and use the dedicated path.
Tangling, especially at the nape
Use Why the Nape Tangles First and the detangling guide. Look for repeated friction, clothing contact, handling, buildup, and wear before forcing through knots.
Stiff, rough, coated, or dull
Use Buildup or Fiber Wear? A removable coating and permanent fiber wear can feel similar, but the next step is different.
Odor
Use Why Does My Synthetic Wig Smell? Separate Odor, Buildup, Dampness, and Wash Timing. Separate environmental odor, storage, wear, and actual buildup before masking the smell or automatically washing.
Static or frizz
Use How to Reduce Static and Frizz. Dry conditions, friction, handling, buildup, and worn fiber can overlap, so more leave-in is not automatically the answer.
Too shiny
Use Why Does My Synthetic Wig Look Too Shiny? First decide whether it always looked that way, changed after product use, or changed only in a worn area. Do not create buildup while trying to solve a cosmetic concern.
Flattened, creased, or misshapen
Use Synthetic Wig Lost Its Shape? Determine whether the cause is storage compression, a changed curl or part, wet handling, approved reshaping, or possible heat damage before using steam or a hot tool.
Shedding or visible fiber loss
Use Why Is My Synthetic Wig Shedding? Start by locating where the fibers are coming from—hand-tied/lace areas, one weft, one damaged zone, or more generally—then check recent product placement, pulling, detangling, and cap damage. Do not assume another conditioner, glue, or “anti-shedding” product is the answer.
Lace front lifting, fraying, stretching, residue, or a tear
Use Lace Front Lifting, Fraying, or Tearing? First separate intact-but-lifting lace from physical fraying, adhesive/tape residue, stretched material, and an actual structural tear. A sizing or handling problem should not automatically become a stronger-glue problem, and a tear should not become a household-repair experiment.
I think it may be damaged
Use Normal Wear or Real Damage? and What Synthetic-Wig Care Can Improve—and What It Cannot Reverse. Synthetic fiber does not self-repair, and missing fibers, failed knots, torn lace, or damaged cap construction are not ordinary cleansing problems.

The WigLab care system
If the problem is buildup or routine care—not permanent fiber wear—return to the two-step WigLab system. CLEANSE removes buildup. CONTROL supports damp lengths and ends.
Start over
If the problem is really washing or product placement, go to Care & Washing. If you do not know the wig, go to Know Your Wig. If the issue is scalp comfort or a person-level symptom, go to Medical & Sensitive-Scalp Care. If you are simply maintaining a wig that is not currently having a problem, go to Wear & Maintain.
