Synthetic Wig Lost Its Shape? Flattened, Creased, or Misshapen Starts With the Cause

DIRECT ANSWER Do not reach for steam, a blow dryer, or a flat iron just because a synthetic wig looks misshapen. First identify the exact fiber and what happened before the shape changed. A wig compressed in storage, a temporary kink, a changed curl pattern, and melted or permanently distorted fiber need different responses. STEP 1 — WHAT CHANGED? Ask when you first noticed the problem. Was the wig packed in luggage, stored under pressure, left damp, caught in weather, styled with heat, exposed to an oven or heater, or simply worn repeatedly? Then look at the pattern: one crease, a flattened crown, loosened waves, a changed part, tight crimping, fused strands, or an all-over style change.
